Ottawa, ON — May 28, 2026

Solar Electric Systems (SES) has announced that Rob Gorrie has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, alongside company originator and Chairman Bob Gorrie.

Rob brings a background in technology and operations leadership to SES, where he will drive strategy, partnerships, and market entry as the company moves toward prototype completion and first customer deployments.

Solar Electric Systems builds the SES System — a field-deployable concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) solar platform designed for environments where grid power is unavailable and diesel dependency is a vulnerability. The system tracks the sun across its full daily arc, pairs with modular battery storage, and is operational in under 30 minutes.

“My father spent decades working with oil companies around the world — on the client side, watching what it costs when energy fails in remote operations. He saw the CPV solution before anyone else was building it for field deployment. I came in to build it with him. That’s what we’re doing.”

The company is registered with NATO (NCAGE), listed on SAM.gov, and has one patent application and one provisional patent application filed, with additional filings in progress. Prototype assembly is in final stages, with field deployment customers targeted across military, oil & gas, mining, and emergency response sectors.

“Energy reliability in remote and contested environments is an unsolved problem at scale. We have the technology, the registrations, and now the leadership team to deliver it.”
